TaMaR Mission Statement

Tnuat Magshimim Reformit (TaMaR) Mission Statement TaMaR (Tnuat Magshimim Reformit) is an international movement of Progressive Jewish Young Adult sniffim (communities). We are the young adults’ movement of the WUPJ and ARZENU. TaMaRnik-im are college students, young professionals, young families and 18-35 year old Jews looking for Progressive Jewish connections.

Each community is committed to the following four pillars through their learning, programming and activities:

  • Am V’Mdinat Israel - The People and Land of Israel
We believe that Israel is central to our Jewish identities whether you live in Israel or in the Diaspora. As a Reform Zionist movement, we encourage each of our members to find their best personal connection to Am V’Medinat Israel and to consider Aliyah Nimshechet (Continuing Aliyah) as a way of realization of Reform Zionism.
  • Kehilat Yahadut Mitkademet – Progressive Jewish Community
    • In order for the continuation and strength of the Progressive Jewish Movement, we need to provide an atmosphere for each sniff to empower its participants to live a Progressive Jewish life.
    • TaMaR provides a warm, inclusive environment for young adults interested in being part of a Progressive Jewish community.
    • According to the belief that Kol Yisrael Aravim Zeh B’Zeh (All of Israel is responsible for one another), we believe that it is the responsibility of Tamar and each individual sniff to take interest in and support one another in order to continually build a strong connection of Progressive Jews around the world.
  • Chinuch - Education
We encourage our sniffim to provide educational opportunities for our members, including but not limited to the following:
    • The culture, politics, history and language of Medinat Yisrael, Israel
    • The Jewish lives of those living in Tfutzot, Diaspora
    • The values and stories of our tradition that are found in Torah
    • Hadracha , Jewish Leadership, in order to ensure the continuation of our movement by passionate leaders
  • Tikkun Olam
The Jewish Commitment to Repairing the World § As young Progressive Jews, we believe it is our responsibility to share the work our movement’s dedication to repairing the world. As Jews, we have a specific role to play in making the world a better place both for ourselves and for everyone.

We aim to build an International Jewish identity which appropriately unites us and respects the differences between our communities.
